Developer Partners Wanted in Connected Living Plan
More than $20 million worth of land near Perth train stations will be released to build at least 0 new apartments to tackle housing affordability.
The Housing Authority will partner with developers to build homes on seven different sites across the metropolitan area, with a focus on affordability and medium to high density living.
The Government’s “connected living” plan is strongly supported by the Property Council.
The decision to build along transport corridors aligns with the findings of Transforming Perth and the #designperth initiatives.
Speaking to The West Australian, Property Council WA Deputy Executive Director Lino Iacomella said the plan would let developers try out new kinds of higher-density housing that could ultimately be rolled out elsewhere to meet Perth’s infill targets.
“We anticipate they will be hotly sought-after sites,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity in the industry to explore the opportunities for what’s going to be a growth area.”
A non-mandatory industry briefing will be held for the Connected Living initiative on Wednesday 9 December 2015, from 1:30-2:30pm at the Hyatt Regency in Perth. This event will be of interest to developers, and/or consortia with questions relating to the Expression of Interest.
