PROPERTY COUNCIL RESPONDS TO DRAFT NORTH QUEENSLAND REGIONAL PLAN
The Property Council’s Townsville Chapter has lodged a formal response to the draft North QueenslandRegional Plan.
In July 2017, the Property Council provided a submission on the Position Statement for the Regional Plan, identifying seven key elementsto ensure the plan maximises unique growth opportunities in the area.
The Property Council has continued to reinforce these objectives in our latest submission.
The Property Council believes that elements of the plan should be refined to reinforce its long-term vision of North Queensland becoming a lead economy in regional Australia that competes in the Asia-Pacific region.
The plan’s vision should be more ambitious, containing a longer-term strategy and specific measures for the region to capitalise on emerging trends. Theimplementation of a Townsville City Deal and a localised approach to planning and development would assist to deliver this.
The Property Council welcomes further opportunity to contribute to the development of the North Queensland Regional Plan.
