Property Council Business Lunch with Opposition Leader Daniel AndrewsOn Thursday 28 August, the Property Council hosted Leader of the Victorian Opposition, the Hon. Daniel Andrews MP at a Business Lunch with more than 230 industry professionals. Mr Andrews prefaced his address by acknowledging the property sector’s role as a powerful part of Victoria’s success story.The growth and prosperity of Victoria is closely tied to its infrastructure decision making. On this front Mr Andrews said that there is a need for a proper, mature discussion around infrastructure funding and delivery, which would be immune to political cycles.He stated the need for a major projects pipeline and discussed ways to bring about greater efficiency in infrastructure delivery. Mr Andrews also discussed the Victorian Opposition’s transport and infrastructure priorities, including its Project 10,000 transport plan, which aims to remove dangerous rail crossings, improve public transport, create 10,000 construction jobs and establish a body to assist with the management of the state’s infrastructure needs, a recommendation supported by the Property Council in its Policy Platform – Victoria, the Property State.Lastly, Mr Andrews stressed the importance of government accessibility, promising to engage and work with the property sector to create more opportunities.
