Property Council Business Lunch: A View from the BoardroomAt a recent Property Council Business Lunch, the chief executives of two of Australia’s largest diversified property groups, Darren Steinberg of DEXUS and Mark Steinert of Stockland, presented their assessment of Australia’s commercial property market. Both Mr Steinberg and Mr Steinert played down talk of a commercial property bubble, and agreed on Melbourne’s growing prominence as a global investment destination.Better returns, rule of law and the transparency and stability of Australia’s property markets were key factors attracting global capital, said Mr Steinberg.”The world is flat. Capital is allocated to where the best opportunities are available,” he said.Mr Steinert said that Melbourne was a relatively easy place to do business, and is the site of some of Stockland’s most profitable projects. The Property Council thanks our sponsor of the Business Lunch, Leighton Contractors for making possible this event.
