Property Council attends Townsville Community Cabinet
The Property Council met Premier Annastacia Palaszcuk MP and members of the Queensland Cabinet at the Community Cabinet session held in Townsville on 29 March.
Meetings were held with the Premier, the Hon Dr Anthony Lynham MP Minister for State Development and Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, and the Hon Yvette D’Ath MP Attorney-General, Minister for Justice and Minister for Training and Skills.
While the focus was largely on reinforcing our local advocacy in Townsville, the Property Council had the opportunity to raise important state-wide issues that need to be addressed by the Queensland Government. These issues included;
- continuing the planning reform agenda;
- the reintroduction of the Retail Shop Leases Bill that was before Parliament at the time the election was called; and
- the need to push ahead with the commitment to deliver an infrastructure plan within the first twelve months of office.
These meetings have complemented the Property Council’s ongoing dialogue with the Queensland Government, in particular the Deputy Premier the Hon Jackie Trad MP who will be speaking at our ‘Downtown Breakfast’ on the 8th of May.
