Property Council Attends Perth City Summit

The Property Council’s Executive Director, Lino Iacomella and Deputy Executive Director, Alix Rhodes attended Perth City Summit over the weekend, which was hosted by Member for Perth John Carey MLA.

Lino was a part of a panel discussion where he spoke about how important it is for the city to set ambitious resident population targets, and applauded initiatives to activate vacant spaces. Particularly, ideas around using some of the vacant spaces to house the homeless.

Lino also spoke about the “Big (and small) Ideas for Perth” Research Report and outlined key initiatives that aligned with the focus of the summit.

Perth City Summit engaged residents, businesses, and property owners to champion new ideas, create new momentum and drive more vibrancy, life, and action in Perth City.

The objective of the Summit was to determine the top 5 initiatives to create vibrancy, activity, and sustainability in the City. The top 5 initiatives as voted by delegates at the event were:

  1. Partner with Noongar people to recognize Indigenous culture and history
  2. Establish Perth as the Canopy City
  3. Activation of vacant properties
  4. Set an ambitious city population target
  5. Establish precincts

The Property Council looks forward to working with Member for Perth, John Carey, and the State Government to keep WA growing through a strong and vibrant CBD.
