Pre-Gateway ReviewThe pre-Gateway is a process for reviewing planning proposals that a council has refused or failed to consider. A review of the pre-Gateway process has been undertaken to ensure it is achieving its objectives.The review found that the pre-Gateway process is generally achieving its objectives and recommends that it is retained subject to a number of changes, including:making the community aware a pre-Gateway review request has been sent to the Department within five days of receiptstrengthening the test for a pre-Gateway review, including taking into account the time that has elapsed since the community last provided their feedback on zoning in the areaincreasing the role of the JRPP and the Commission who will carry out the assessment and determine the pre-Gateway reviewwhere a council refuses the JRPP’s request to act as the Relevant Planning Authority, or does not respond to that request within 42 days, the relevant JRPP will become the Relevant Planning Authority.To access the Pre-Gateway Review Findings and Recommendations Report see the attached document below.To access the Pre-Gateway Review Frequently Asked Questions see the attached document below.The Department of Planning & Environment are inviting comments to 14 October 2015.
