Positioning our City for the Future: Townsville Lunch
It was fantastic to hear from Mayor Cr Jenny Hill about Townsville’s unique value proposition at the Positioning our City for the Future: Townsville Lunch on Friday 26 November 2021.
Over 100 attendees also heard from an expert panel featuring John Carey, Partner – Wilson/Ryan/Grose and Ranee Crosby, CEO – Port of Townsville on the value of interstate migrants to Townsville and the potential for a local hydrogen industry.
Hydrogen was a key theme throughout the panel discussion and Mayor’s keynote address, owing to Townsville’s sunshine as a competitive advantage, making it an ideal place to both manufacture and export Hydrogen to the globe. This is emerging industry was discussed an ideal drawcard to attract new workers and their families to the region.
Skilled migration was another topic discussed at length, panellists acknowledging the appetite of private and public sector to collaborate to address this challenge. Our panellists also touched on the significant role that incentives across all three levels of government would play, ensuring availability of trades and investment opportunities are not lost.
Thank you also goes to Stephen Motti, Senior Principal – Brazier Motti for moderating the insightful discussion.
