Podcasts to kick your career into overdrive

From taking risks to navigating your way as the new kid on the block, the Property Council’s new podcast series aims to help busy young property professionals kick their careers into overdrive.

Want to explore the twists and turns of Springfield City Group’s inspiring leader, Raynuha Sinnathamby, and how self-belief has supported her success?

Or keen to pick the brains of Luke Fraser, CEO of Howard Smith Wharves, on the challenges of leading a city-shaping project?

The Property Council’s Future Directions committee in Queensland has launched a new podcast series for young professionals looking for insight and inspiration.

Sara Cecchi, business improvement manager at Shape Australia, sits on the Property Council’s Future Directions committee in Queensland, and is a passionate force behind the podcasts project.

“We have been exploring alternative ways to connect with our audience – busy young professionals in the property industry,” Cecchi says.

“These people are time poor, interested in specific topics and looking for value. We realised that podcasts meet these needs and allows people to engage on their own terms.”

Cecchi says season one is focused on “success and resilience”.

“We explore the traditional measures of success from people who have achieved them and unpack whether they are still relevant today.”

Among the topics on offer in the first series are conversations with Vicinity Centres’ regional general manager Daniel Sutton, who shares his secrets to empowering teams. Construction lawyer Janelle Kerrisk reveals the challenges of disrupting the traditional law firm model through her Helix Legal practice. And Brisbane architect Noel Robinson explains the method behind his extraordinary portfolio of projects.

“We have honest conversations about the hard road taken in careers in property and how these have strengthened our guests and shaped the careers they lead today,” Cecchi adds.

The first podcast ‘We won’t be a sleepy little country town anymore’, featuring Luke Fraser, is now available for download.
