Planning instruments finalised
The Queensland Government has released the final pieces of the planning reform puzzle, with all the instruments that will support the reformed planning legislation now available.
Queensland’s new planning legislation, which comes into effect on 3 July, will be supported by a suite of recently gazetted and released state interest instruments:
- State Planning Policy (the SPP)
- State Development Assessment Provisions (SDAP)
- Minister’s Guidelines and Rules (MGRs)
- The Planning Regulation 2017
A series of workshops will be run across the state this month by the Department of Infrastructure Local Government and Planning to assist industry with the transition to the new planning system.
The Property Council has been a fervent advocate of planning reform in Queensland for many years and across several governments. Recently the Property Council provided the industry position on the draft MGRs and the draft Planning Regulation.
We will continue to provide feedback to the department before and after the Planning Act 2016 commences.
