Petrie paper mill site declared PDAThe former Petrie paper mill site has been declared a Priority Development Area (PDA) by the State Government to facilitate the development of an innovation and knowledge precinct.’The Mill at Moreton Bay’ PDA is the proposed site for a University of the Sunshine Coast campus and associated development. The State Government and Sunshine Coast Council aim to have the proposed facility open to students by 2020.An integrated mixed-use development is envisaged for the remainder of the 460 hectare site which includes Petrie and Kallangur train stations.The State Government has estimated that the new development could generate $9 million for the Queensland economy and support more than 6,000 jobs by 2036.A development scheme for the site will be developed within the next 12 months, with an interim land use plan in place until the scheme is finalised.
