Property Council of Australia national Vice President and chief investment officer of The GPT Group Carmel Hourigan has been appointed Global Head of Property at AMP Capital, commencing in early November.
GPT CEO Bob Johnston said Hourigan leaves with the company’s support and best wishes, having been instrumental in the success that GPT has achieved over the past three years. “Carmel has done an excellent job at GPT and this is a great opportunity for her to continue her leadership in the property sector,” Johnson said.
Incoming AMP Capital managing director Adam Tindall said “Carmel is a property investment professional of the highest calibre and is highly regarded by those in the property and funds management industries. Her extensive experience in both wholesale managed funds and retail asset management will be invaluable in both driving investment performance and delivering our $5 billion development pipeline.”
Hourigan has more than 20 years of experience in property and funds management, having held managing director, CEO and CIO positions in both public and private markets. She has served in senior positions at Lendlease, Challenger and Colonial First State. “I am excited to be joining AMP Capital, which has a strong heritage in funds management and providing compelling property investment opportunities. I was attracted by the strength of the people, platforms and assets and look forward to building upon the underlying quality of the property business and taking it to the next level,” Hourigan said
Amanda Steele has been appointed to head up CBRE’s Pacific Asset Services business. Steele, who is currently CBRE’s Pacific Head of Sustainability, will take over as senior managing director, Asset Services, following the departure of Phill Rockliff.
Steele joined CBRE two years ago after working in operations, development and corporate affairs at Stockland. She was recently named as the RICS Australia Property Professional of the Year 2015 and sits on the Property Council’s NSW Sustainability Committee, the Better Buildings Partnership for the City of Sydney and the Green Star Steering Committee for the GBCA.
Colliers International has expanded its Melbourne City Sales team with the appointment of David Sia as executive, Asia Markets. In Queensland Colliers has appointed Tony Hymus as national director of its Residential Project Marketing team on the Gold Coast, and Trenton Hindman has joined the company as an executive of the International Rural and Agribusiness team.
Melbourne agent Fitzroys has announced three promotions in its agency division. Mark Talbot has been made an associate director following a decade with Fitzroys; James Gregson, who joined Fitzroys through its graduate program 12 years ago, has also been made an associate director; and Michael Ryan has been made a senior associate.
In other news, DEXUS has announced that it will introduce a new category for its Excellence in Agency awards for 2016 and 2017. The Female Agent of the Year award will celebrate the contribution of women in property, encouraging all in the industry to promote and support women into leasing and customer-related roles. DEXUS will also take into consideration gender diversity when appointing agents.
“As a Property Male Champion of Change, I see property as a great career path for both men and women and it is important that we are supporting the diversity agenda in a number of ways,” said DEXUS CEO Darren Steinberg.
