People on the move – 7 October 2014Built appoints David Vicenzino to the role of general manager; James Nash joins FDC’s development team; Gary Morgan joins Colliers International; and Professor Adrian Carter is appointed head of Bond University’s architecture school.There’s been plenty of movement in the Sunshine State in the past week with several new appointments.David Vicenzino has joined Built’s Queensland office in the role of general manager. The construction firm has had a presence in Queensland since 2004 and is looking to undertake larger-scale projects in the state now that Vicenzino has joined the team.Vicenzino joins Built with more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. He previously held the position of Northern Region building manager with Abigroup. Most recently he was operations manager, Queensland and NT, at Lend Lease, where he was responsible for a portfolio of work valued at about $1 billion.Built’s recent major works include the $1-million Collins Square project in Melbourne, a $120-million refurbishment project currently underway in Sydney, and the $60-million refurbishment of Perth’s Old Treasury Buildings.Meanwhile, construction and fitout company FDC has appointed James Nash as business development manager. He joins FDC from Stephen Edwards.At Colliers International, Gary Morgan has taken on the role of manager with the Brisbane residential team. Morgan, who comes to the position following seven years at Coldwell Banker Property Direct, will be responsible for bringing potential townhouse and apartment projects to market, ensuring due diligence and managing new business and client relationships.Bond University has appointed Professor Adrian Carter, a widely respected architect, academic and expert on the work of Sydney Opera House designer Jørn Utzon, to lead its architecture school. Professor Carter will take on the role of Head of Discipline at the University’s Abedian School of Architecture from next year.Professor Carter has more than 30 years’ experience working across the globe, but is perhaps best known as the founder of the Utzon Research Center and for helping to establish the Utzon Center building in Aalborg, Denmark. Among the major architecture projects in his portfolio are the Finnish Embassy in New Delhi, Sief’s Palace in Kuwait, housing proposals for Walsh Bay in Sydney and the Storebælt Suspension Bridge in Denmark.
