Charter Hall makes latest move in organisational restructure; joint managing directors appointed at Knight Frank SA; Turner & Townsend hires quantity surveyor and construction lawyer; Colliers boosts Melbourne City sales team; CBRE adds to its Sydney North Shore industrial division; Savills Victorian branch continues strategic growth policy.
As part of Charter Hall’s recent organisational restructure, Sean McMahon will take up the new role of chief investment officer in August. McMahon has more than 25 years’ experience in the property and finance industry, most recently as CIO of Frasers Property Australia, where he was also previously executive general manager/head of Commercial & Industrial. McMahon will be responsible for strategy, mergers and acquisitions, corporate development and transactions and will join Charter Hall’s Executive Leadership Group.
Knight Frank has promoted two senior staff to joint managing directors of its South Australian division, following the departure of current managing director Peter McVann at the end of April. Guy Bennett, currently director, Capital Markets, SA and Bobbette Scott, head of Asset Management Services, SA will be the new joint managing directors.
Early in his career, Bennett worked in London for JP Morgan in its Institutional Equities area, focusing on listed property trusts, before being transferred to Sydney in 2002. He joined Charter Hall as its national leasing manager before relocating back to Adelaide four years ago to help re-build Knight Frank’s Capital Markets team.
Prior to moving to Australia in 2000, Scott was in a senior role in a South African real estate firm. After moving to Australia she worked for Colliers as a commercial property manager, and was promoted to state director of Property Management. She joined CBRE in 2004 and built its asset management business over the next decade, before accepting the role of head of Asset Management Services at Knight Frank Adelaide in April 2014.
Turner & Townsend has appointed quantity survey and construction lawyer Michael Sanig as director, Contract Services. For seven and a half years Sanig was the National Construction and Equipment manager for Woolworths Supermarkets with a budget in excess of $0 million per annum. He subsequently performed a similar role for Telstra, rolling out new shops for the business across the country. Other projects he has worked on include a $1.2 billion railway utility procurement project and a $6 million roads and civil engineering project in NSW.
Anthony Choi has joined Colliers International in the role of senior executive in the Melbourne City Sales team, based in the Melbourne CBD office.
CBRE has added to it Sydney north shore team with the appointment of industrial and logistics professional Ben Byford. In his new role as director, Industrial and Office Parks, Byford will focus on the north shore from Gladesville through to Macquarie Park, Frenchs Forest and Brookvale. He was formerly with JLL for 10 years.
Savills Australia’s Victorian branch has announced the appointment of several new staff as part of a strategic growth policy, including long-serving Savills director David Norman to a new position as head of Division, Victorian Industrial. Other appointments include two new industrial operatives to Savills’ South Eastern division – David Kalb and Sasan Misaghian.
