Changes to the Property Council Board; UBS Grocon head moving to New Hope; Colliers adds to senior leadership team; first female president for AIRAH; Qualitas expands in Sydney; Savills busy with new appointments.

The Property Council of Australia has recently made changes to its Board of Directors. Lendlease CEO Kylie Rampa has joined the board, replacing Tarun Gupta who has moved into the company’s CFO role. Three other directors have taken up their places on the Property Council board: David Harrison, managing director of Charter Hall, Bob Johnson, CEO of GPT Group and Angus McNaughton, CEO of Vicinity Centres. Those departing the board are Carolyn Viney who steps down from Grocon in June, and Ming Long, who has resigned following her recent departure from Investa. 

It has been reported that Nick Dowling, CEO of UBS Grocon Real Estate, has joined Chinese agribusiness and real estate company New Hope Group as managing director and CEO, Australia and New Zealand. Before joining UBS Grocon, Dowling was the head of Goldman Sachs agribusiness practice in Asia and has also worked at JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley.

Colliers International has promoted Rebecca Pelling and Anneke Thompson to its national Senior Leadership team. After four years at Colliers, Anneke Thompson will move up from associate director to be the new national director of Research. She was previously with NABproperty and JLL. Pelling, who has been with Colliers since 2009, will lead Project Services within the Occupiers Services team, which provides corporate real estate solutions. Thompson started with Colliers as a project manager in 2009, was promoted to associate director in 2011, NSW director of Projects in 2013 and then national director of Project Management in 2015.

Ania Hampton, director of Edefice, has been elected as the first female president of the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH). “Improving our member services and diversity is a big priority, and the launch of the Women in HVAC&R committee is just the first step. It’s an exciting time to be part of AIRAH and I’m delighted to be president,” says Hampton. She takes over from Nathan Groenhout.

Real estate investment management firm Qualitas has expanded with two senior appointments in Sydney. Diana Saw has joined the company as director, Risk Management and Ivan Katz as director Private Capital. Saw was previously a member of the structured debt capital markets team at Deutsche Bank and a lawyer in the banking and finance group at Mallesons Stephen Jacques. Katz was formerly with the Private Client Services business of Investec Bank.

Savills Australia has promoted Chris Jones and Ben Hegerty to national directors of its Industrial Investments division.

In Melbourne Savills has lured Trent Preece as director and Anna Cavar as senior valuer to its Valuation and Advisory division. Both Preece and Cavar were formerly with m3property.

Also in Melbourne, Jessica Fulton has joined Savills’ Office Leasing division as an associate director. Fulton was previously a senior sales and leasing executive with Asian Pacific Group.
