People on the move – 30 March 2015New director for Property Council in the Northern Territory; Architecture firm Architectus appoints Matthew Smith and Shaun Schroter to its Melbourne studio; and Lim Swe Guan is appointed as a non-executive director at The GPT Group.Ruth Palmer has joined the Property Council of Australia as director in the Northern Territory. Prior to joining the Property Council, Palmer spent seven years with the Northern Territory Government, working in the Communications Unit for the then Chief Minister Paul Henderson and most recently as an advisor with the Leader of the Opposition, Delia Lawrie MLA.Matthew Smith and Shaun Schroter have been appointed as principals at Architectus in a move the firm says will strengthen its client service capability.Smith has 11 years’ experience leading the Melbourne office of Crone Partners, where he oversaw all commercial sectors, including residential, office, hospitality, retail, interiors and large mixed-use developments. His early career included positions with Peddle Thorp Architects and Whiting Architects.Schroter joins Architectus with experience in Australia and Asia across residential, commercial, retail and institutional projects. He was previously associate director at Elenberg Fraser, before which he held the position of architecture principal and national residential sector leader at HASSELL. Prior to that he was with ROTHELOWMAN, John Wardle Architects and Bates Smart. The GPT Group has announced it has appointed Lim Swe Guan as a non-executive director. He will stand for election at the Annual General Meeting of Securityholders on 5 May 2015.Lim has served a long tenure as a managing director in the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC). At GIC he was the regional head of Property Investment for Australia, Japan and South-East Asia and the global head of the Corporate Investment Group. He was a non-executive director of GPT from April 2009 to May 2012 as a nominee of GIC.
