City-shaper Malcolm Snow will lead the ACT Government’s new City Renewal Authority, Arup has a new urban design director and REA Group gains a new consumer experience specialist.

Malcolm Snow (pictured), chief executive of the National Capital Authority, takes on the top job at the ACT Government’s new City Renewal Authority. Snow has led major city revitalisation programs throughout Australia, Asia and the United Kingdom. He was head of design with the City of Melbourne, director of international consulting firm Urbis and CEO of South Bank Corporation in Brisbane.

Caroline Stalker is the new design director for engineering and design firm Arup’s Brisbane-based urban design team. Stalker was formerly a director at Archipelago Architecture & Urban Design and Architectus, and has more than three decades under her belt working in integrated transport, health and research, cities, and sub-tropical and climate responsive designs.

REA Group has appointed Val Brown as executive general manager of consumer experience. Brown will be responsible for driving the Group’s consumer product strategy for realestate.com.au and Flatmates.com.au.

John Bradley has been appointed secretary of the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. The former director general of the Queensland Department of Premier and Cabinet, and director general of the Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management, Bradley has been chief executive of Energy Networks Australia since 2013.

Folkestone Funds Management has appointed Monica Hood as its new business development manager. Hood joins Folkestone from global equities investor Hunter Hall.

The former chief of LJ Hooker, Grant Harrod, has joined the board of LocalAgentFinder to drive growth of the property comparison platform. Harrod is also the current CEO of Pro-Pac Group.
