Architectus appoints Simone Oliver as principal, Michael Fenton’s industrial leadership at JLL expands, while John Preece jumps ship from Knight Frank to head up property at coworking company Hub Australia.
Interior architect Simone Oliver (pictured) has joined the Architectus management team as principal. Oliver, who is based in Sydney, has worked for some of Australia’s most recognisable companies and institutions, including Westpac, Rio Tinto, Qantas and Group of Eight Universities. Oliver moves over to Architectus after 23 years with Geyer, and will co-lead strategy, business development and project delivery.
Michael Fenton, JLL’s head of industrial in Australia, will transition full-time to the role of Australian head of industrial sales and leasing. Fenton has also been the managing director of JLL’s NSW business since 2009 and assumed the additional responsibilities of national head of industrial in 2010. Fenton hands over his managing director commitments later this year.
JLL has also appointed Tony Iuliano as national head of its capital markets industrial division. Iuliano joins from Colliers International in Melbourne where he was Victorian head of industrial. Meanwhile, Adrian Rowse will join as a director, based in Melbourne. Rowse also joins from Colliers Melbourne.
John Preece has jumped ship to Hub Australia after seven years at Knight Frank. Hub Australia trails only US-based WeWork in the coworking space. As chief property officer, Preece is responsible for sourcing and securing new properties across Australia.
Jane Williams has joined John Wardle Architects as a principal. Williams has previously worked as principal with BVN and led her own design practice. Williams recently led the design for the $44m Bunurong Memorial Park project in Melbourne and the $20m Australian Army Museum of Military Engineering in Sydney.
Kirsty Chessher-Brown takes on the role of chief executive of the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s Queensland chapter. Chessher-Brown has been with the UDIA since 2016, most recently as director of policy, research and sustainability. After five years with UDIA, outgoing chief executive Marina Vit has moved to Brisbane-based Mosaic Property Group as its chief operating officer.
Proptech company Procore has appointed Tom Karemacher as vice-president for the Asia Pacific as it expands its presence in the region. Procore provides cloud-based applications for construction. Karemacher was formerly area vice president, commercial sales at Salesforce, where he had worked for 12 years.
Geoff Lucas has returned to take the reins of McGrath Limited. Lucas was chief operating officer of the real estate company for eight years from 2008, driving growth and leading its transition from a private to public company.
Chris Scerri joins Richardson & Wrench as national growth manager to drive the group’s expansion in metropolitan and regional NSW and Queensland.
