People on the move – 26 May 2015Colliers International appoints three new directors in its Brisbane and Gold Coast offices and boosts its Hotels team in Sydney; and JLL appoints experienced leasing expert Adam Barrett as head of Queensland Leasing.Colliers International has appointed Carl Knaggs in the role of director of Consultancy, based in its Brisbane office.Knaggs has about 13 years’ experience in a variety of consulting roles. Most recently he was director of CJK Planning, a business he started in 2012.Among his key responsibilities will be strategic transaction management, development advice and asset optimisation, socio-economic analysis and forecasting, market studies, GIS analysis, portfolio audits and development approvals. Knaggs will work closely with Colliers International’s head of Consultancy, Andrew Graham, to expand the firm’s consultancy offering to existing and new clients in Queensland.Colliers International’s Residential Project Marketing team on the Gold Coast will be bolstered by the appointment of two new directors, Brett Ahern and Kyia Maidens.Ahern was previously a state manager at Angas Securities Limited for seven years, and was responsible for sourcing, structuring and managing loans to property developers and corporate investors.Maidens has been involved in several projects that have received industry acclaim, including Emandar Group’s Harbour Quays master-planned development. Peter Chittenden, managing director of Residential at Colliers International, said both Ahern and Maidens bring years of experience to the Residential Project Marketing team. “Brett and Kyia will be responsible for building the company’s local expertise and market dominance in [the] sales and marketing of residential projects across the Gold Coast and northern NSW,” he said.Denise Kirk has joined Colliers International’s Hotels team as hotels analyst and will be based in Sydney. Kirk has more than 13 years’ experience in tourism, accommodation and consulting. She has worked in both the London and Sydney offices of Cushman & Wakefield and most recently was tourism policy manager at Tourism & Transport Forum.JLL has promoted Adam Barrett to the role of head of Queensland Leasing. Barrett has been with JLL for 16 years. He was made associate director in 2008, local director in 2010 and national director in July last year.Barrett will continue to work on many of JLL’s major leasing appointments, including the redevelopment of Brisbane’s Riverside Centre; Central Plaza One’s makeover; the redevelopment of 310 Ann Street; and the commercial component of the RNA Showgrounds development.Red23 has appointed Andrew Perkins to its executive team. Perkins was formerly head of research at Oliver Hume Corporation, driving the research division since 2003.Perkins is a former Urban Development Institute of Australia in Victoria board member and a former member of the Urban Development Institute of New South Wales Land Release and Housing Delivery Committee. He was also appointed to the Property Council of Victoria’s Research Committee in 2015.
