Senior Australia Post executive Madeline Dermatossian moves to CBRE, while the Clean Energy Finance Corporation’s former head Oliver Yates and former ACT deputy chief minister Simon Corbell start a clean energy trading firm.

CBRE has appointed senior Australia Post executive Madeline Dermatossian (pictured) as its chief operating officer for Pacific. Prior to her role at Australia Post – an organisation with a sizeable real estate portfolio comprising 4,400 retail outlets – Dermatossian was COO for Defence Housing Australia. She has also served as managing director and CEO for FuturePlus Financial Services.  Dermatossian will join CBRE in January 2018.

Community housing developer CHC has a new chief executive officer. Andrew Hannan takes on the top job in December, after leading the University of Queensland’s professional services transformation program over the past two years. Hannan has worked for management consulting for top-tier firm Booz and Co, Babcock & Brown, Alinta Energy and Santos.

In another CBRE appointment, Mark Russ will lead the expansion of its residential valuations business into the private and government sectors. Based in Sydney, Russ joins CBRE as head of private clients. He has more than 25 years’ experience in specialised valuations, most recently as a director of Land Mark White. 

Meanwhile, former chief at the Clean Energy Finance Corporation Oliver Yates and the former ACT Deputy Chief Minister Simon Corbell have formed a clean energy trading firm. The Clean Energy Derivatives Corporation plans to raise $2 million within the next six months to bet on the future price of wind and solar farms. 

James Tucker joins construction company Donald Cant Watts Corke as a director of the Queensland business, and head of the QLD project management team. Tucker has a portfolio of projects spanning Australia, Europe and Papua New Guinea.
