Westfield’s co-founder and chairman Frank Lowy has been awarded a knighthood in the Queen’s UK Birthday Honours List, and the Property Council has appointed Belinda Ngo to lead its International and Capital Markets division.
Frank Lowy AC (pictured), co-founder and chairman of Westfield, has been awarded a knighthood in the Queen’s UK Birthday Honours List for services to British business and philanthropy. Sir Frank’s Westfield London, in the capital’s west, and Westfield Stratford City, at the gateway to the Olympic Games site, are Europe’s two largest urban shopping centres. Stratford City created 10,000 permanent new jobs from its first day of trading. Sir Frank supports a number of philanthropic endeavours in the UK, including the Cabinet Office War Rooms, the Imperial War Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The Property Council has appointed Belinda Ngo as executive director of its International and Capital Markets division. Ngo has been with the Property Council for more than four years, having recently served as director of tax policy. Chief executive Ken Morrison says the international capital markets team is “crucial to maintaining a strong flow of investment that fuels the property industry – and Belinda is perfectly placed to lead our work”.
Aimee Guo has joined JLL in Adelaide as a senior executive in its Capital Markets sales team. Guo has a background in commercial real estate and finance broking, and is fluent in both Mandarin and English. Guo will be focused on growing JLL’s Asian desk.
UK-based Maynard, a specialist in transport design solutions, is moving into the Australian and New Zealand markets. Associate urban designer Kate Pleban will lead the team’s Melbourne office. Pleban has spent the last six months as part of a contractor-led consortium bidding on the Melbourne Metro project.
