People on the move – 2 June 2015Virginia Briggs joins the Property Council board; Cardno appoints Richard Wankmuller as CEO; Eugene Evgenikos to head Knight Frank’s Industrial Investments/Capital Markets; Adam Barrett to head JLL’s leasing division in Queensland; Cromwell appoints Damian Horton as head of Property.Virginia Briggs, a partner with Minter Ellison law firm, has joined the Property Council of Australia’s Board of Directors, replacing Sue Kench from King & Wood Mallesons, who has stepped down after two years. Briggs is also a member of the NSW Division Council and chairs the NSW Women and Diversity in Property Committee.Infrastructure and environmental services company Cardno has appointed Richard Wankmuller as CEO. Wankmuller has 30 years’ international experience in professional engineering services, including his most recent role as a director of GHD Group and president of GHD Americas. In 2014 he was instrumental in the merger of GHD Group and Conestoga-Rovers & Associates to create an 80-employee environmental, engineering and construction services consulting group. Before joining GHD Group, Wankmuller was a member of Parsons Corporation’s global executive management team and a director of MWH Global, where he held senior executive roles in the US, Europe and Australia.Knight Frank continues to grow its national industrial business with the in-house appointment of Eugene Evgenikos as head of Industrial Investments/Capital Markets for Australia. Since joining Knight Frank in 2011, Evgenikos has been responsible for several major industrial sales, including 44 Wharf Road, Melrose Park, NSW. His range of experience includes sales, leasing, consultancy and marketing of industrial, commercial and mixed-use properties.JLL has promoted leasing expert Adam Barrett to head its leasing division in Queensland. Barrett has been with JLL since 1999, and will continue to work on major leasing appointments including the redevelopment of the Riverside Centre, Central Plaza One’s makeover, the redevelopment of 310 Ann Street, and the commercial component of the RNA Showgrounds development. According to JLL’s managing director in Queensland, Geoff McIntyre, Barrett has “played a significant role in creating what is our market-leadership position in the business today.”At Cromwell Property Group, Damian Horton has joined the senior executive team as head of property. He will assume responsibility for the group’s $2.2 billion portfolio of Australian property assets and manage the property, leasing and special projects teams. Horton comes to Cromwell with, most recently, four years’ experience consulting to government, and his direct property experience in Australia and Europe includes managerial roles at Valad. Horton’s appointment follows Cromwell’s acquisition of Valad Europe, which has transformed the group into a global platform with $12.1 billion of assets under management.
