Investa Land re-emerges as Avid; ARM co-founder dies; Jacobs appoints Queensland EDO, GroupGSA hires health sector specialist; two promotions at CBRE Chinatown; new Landscape principal for Hassell; realestate.com goes global.
Investa Land, which was acquired by private equity firm Proprium Capital Partners in 2015 when Morgan Stanley exited the Investa Property Group, has been rebranded as Avid Property Group. “Our forcus is on tripling the value of the business to more than $1 billion over the next five years,” says Cameron Holt, chief executive officer of Avid. “The financial backing of Proprium enables Avid to expand its residential development portfolio, adopt a longer term investment horizon and explore development opportunities in related sectors.”
Stephen Ashton, co-founder of ARM Architecture and joint recipient of the 2016 Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal, has died aged 61.
Jacobs, global provider of technical, professional and construction services, has appointed Sinead Giblin as its new executive director of Operations (EDO) – Northern, for its buildings and infrastructure business in Australia. Giblin, who has been with Jacobs for 11 years, will join the company’s Asia Pacific Buildings and Infrastructure Executive Leadership team and manage the firm’s operations across Queensland.
Raquel Casas Huelin has joined GroupGSA as Health Sector principal. She has over 20 years experience in Australia and overseas, beginning with Planho Consultants Studio in Seville and later as an independent consultant for Andalusia Health Service. In 2002, Huelin became practice director Healthcare of Llewelyn Davies Yeang in the UK, running several international projects in the Middle East and South East Asia. She joined Hassell’s Perth studio as senior associate in 2010, working on projects such as St John of God and Midland Public and Private Hospitals.
CBRE Residential Projects has promoted Janelle Zhang from director to managing director of the firm’s Chinatown office in Sydney. Zhang has over 18 years’ experience in residential project sales and has worked with CBRE Residential Projects since its inception. The Chinatown office was opened at the start of 2013 with director Wei Zhang. Since then it has grown to 25 sales agents and sales assistants, including Thomas Sun, who has also been promoted from senior sales executive to associate director.
Design company Hassell has appointed Mark Haycox as a principal in Landscape Architecture, based in the company’s Melbourne studio. Haycox was previously a director with McGregor Coxall and has worked at DCM and VicUrban.
REA Group, parent company of realestate.com.au, has launched a global property network, realestate.com.au/international. The site will include listings from 56 countries including US, Italy, Germany, France, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
