People on the move – 19 January 2015Rupert Hope appointed as a director and portfolio manager at Lazard Asset Management; structural project engineer Renier Van Jaarsveld relocates to Wood & Grieve Engineers’ Perth office; and Eagul Faigen and Tim Mathers appointed DLA Piper partners.Based in New York, Rupert Hope has been hired to help expand Lazard Asset Management’s Emerging Market and Global Multi Asset solution platform. He joins Lazard having been managing director and co-head of Global Equity Distribution at Renaissance Capital, where he was responsible for building a global emerging markets equity research platform. Prior to that he was a managing director at Deutsche Bank.Wood & Grieve Engineers has announced it aims to meet growing Western Australian industry demands by moving structural section manager Renier Van Jaarsveld to the firm’s Perth office. Van Jaarsveld recently built Wood & Grieve Engineers’ Darwin office into a strong national structural hub. With the move to Perth, Van Jaarsveld takes on the role of structural project engineer. The firm says it has several significant projects underway that will benefit from his extensive structural expertise. Law firm DLA Piper has announced it has appointed real estate lawyers Eagul Faigen and Tim Mathers to its partnership. Faigen, who will join the firm from Norton Rose Fulbright, and Mathers, who will join from Herbert Smith Freehills, will start at the firm’s Perth and Brisbane offices, respectively, at the beginning of February.Faigen advises on large-scale capital transactions, real estate developments and complex high-end leasing for public and private sector clients, as well as inbound capital transactions for foreign investors. Mathers advises on all aspects of commercial property transactions in addition to the real estate aspects of major infrastructure projects and commercial M&A transactions.
