People on the move – 19 April 2016LJ Hooker gears up for float with appointment of CFO; NDY expands into Canada market; Woods Bagot appoints new design director in Melbourne.Former finance executive at Servcorp, Thomas Wallace, has been appointed as chief financial officer at LJ Hooker and has also joined the board in the lead up to the group’s $400 million float slated for September this year. Norman Disney & Young (NDY) has expanded its operations into the Canadian market following the acquisition of Vancouver-based mechanical engineering company Sterling Cooper. NDY CEO Stuart Fowler says the move into Canada and North America is part of the firm’s longer-term growth plans. “With an experienced team of approximately 30 engineers, this acquisition of a highly-admired firm in an established marketplace provides NDY with immediate work in Vancouver, and emerging opportunities more broadly in Canada and North America.” NDY now has an international presence in 15 markets and operates across four continents.Wood Bagot has appointed Ivan Turcinov as design director in its Melbourne studio. Turcinov has more than 22 years’ experience in architectural, urban and interior design. Prior to joining Woods Bagot he worked on a number of significant cultural, civic and public works in Melbourne with ARM Architecture, including MTC Southbank Theatre, Melbourne Recital Centre, Shrine of Remembrance Stage 2 and Melbourne Central Retail Development. Other projects include the MI6 office building with Terry Farrell in London and Stage 1 of the Adelaide Convention Centre by Woods Bagot/SOM Chicago in1999.
