Steve Coster takes the reins at HASSELL, Arcadis appoints a regional legal counsel, Macquarie Point Development Corporation hires a new CEO, Dr Ian Winter passes on the baton at AHURI and BVN makes 37 new appointments in July.
Design practice HASSELL has a new managing director. Steve Coster (pictured) takes the helm after six years with the company as principal and board director. Coster was previously Australian managing director of international workplace strategy consultancy DEGW. Coster takes over from Rob Backhouse, who after nine years as managing director moves to the role of chair.
In another appointment for HASSELL, Cameron Ward has been appointed to the new role of chief financial officer, taking over from finance director Ian Humble who retired in June.
Dr Ian Winter has announced that he will finish his tenure as executive director of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) in December. Dr Winters has been the executive director of AHURI for 14 years.
Arcadis has appointed Joanne Perdriau as regional legal counsel for its Australia Pacific operations. Perdriau was formerly a senior associate at Colin Biggers & Paisley specialising in construction disputes, and advised on large infrastructure and building projects while at Jacobs.
Mary Massina is the Macquarie Point Development Corporation’s new permanent chief executive officer, after her earlier appointment as interim CEO. Massina is a former executive director of the Property Council in Tasmania.
Pip Doogan joins Savills as director of office leasing, based in the Canberra office. Doogan was most recently a sales campaign manager for urban renewal with the Land Development Agency. Prior to this she worked with Knight Frank and Raine & Horne Commercial.
Architectural firm BVN has made 37 new appointments in July alone. Of the 14 practice directors appointed, eight are women. Ali Bounds, Stephanie Costello, Dan Cruddace, Sally Johnson, Kellie Newman, Debbie Nicholls, Catherine Skinner and Robert Vider have been appointed senior practice directors. Andrew Buchanan, Adrian Mignot, Hayley Sainsbury, Lovro Smoljo, Katherine Wiedersehen and Stuart Young are now practice directors. Chief executive James Grose says these appointments “reflect BVN’s continued move towards gender equity”.
In other news, one of BVN’s leaders, principal Phil Tait, has retired after 37 years. Tait played an instrumental role in securing major projects such as the Sydney Olympic 2000 stadium, the Domestic and International Airports at Brisbane, and the Lavarack Army Barracks in Townsville.
