People on the move – 18 August 2014Knight Frank Malaysia announces two appointments as part of its expansion into Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia; and LaSalle Investment Management appoints Daniel Pottorff as a director of its Debt Investments and Special Situations team.The new Knight Frank office in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, will be led by Ginn Lai as associate director and Stephenie Wong as resident branch manager. The launch of the new office marks the first time a global property consultancy has entered the East Malaysia real estate market.Lai has 16 years’ global experience in the real estate industry in the areas of project marketing, property and facilities management, commercial and retail agency, hospitality and development feasibility analysis.Wong, born and raised in Sabah, has more than six years’ experience in the property sector and brings to the role a background in land development valuations and estate management.By 2020, the population of Kota Kinabalu is expected to grow to more than 1 million, fuelled by growing tourism, agriculture, oil and gas opportunities in the Sabah region.LaSalle Investment Management’s appointment of Daniel Pottorff as a director in the firm’s Debt Investments and Special Situations team will allow the company to focus on its Western European investments. As well as accessing special situations opportunities in Europe, including loan portfolio, corporate and equity transactions, Pottorff will look to invest on behalf of the group’s funds that are currently investing: LaSalle Real Estate Debt Strategies II and LaSalle Residential Finance.Pottorff comes to the role having held the position of vice president at Strategic Value Partners. Prior to that, he worked at Morgan Stanley and British Land.
