People on the Move – 17 November 2015

Property Council ACT stalwart moves on; Savills reviews its Asia Pacific management structure; UrbanGrowth confirms Sydney projects appointment; new chief executive for Mulpha; CBRE promotes replacement in its Pacific GWS business; and Cushman & Wakefield expands in NSW.

Long-serving Property Council ACT executive director Catherine Carter has resigned to pursue other opportunities. Property Council chief executive Ken Morrison said Carter had represented the industry with distinction for more than 10 years. “Catherine has been a passionate and powerful champion of Canberra for over a decade,” Morrison said. “She has led the debate for the urban renewal and revitalisation of Canberra, which is helping to transform the city in so many ways, and has been a strong advocate for tax reform.”

Savills Australia and New Zealand has undertaken a regional review of its Asia Pacific management structure, including succession planning, and has announced changes from April 2016. Paul Craig, currently managing director for Western Australia, will be appointed chief executive officer (CEO) for Australia & New Zealand, a post currently held by Paul McLean. McLean will retain his responsibilities for Queensland and New Zealand, boosting Savills growing presence in these markets.

Elsewhere, Tim Mitchell has been appointed NSW Research director at Savills NSW.  Mitchell has spent the past six years at Stockland working in Capital Transactions and Investor Relations.

UrbanGrowth, the NSW Government development agency, has confirmed the appointment of Matthew Beggs as head of Western Sydney Projects Portfolio, with responsibility for the delivery of projects in Sydney’s north west, inner north, west and south west. Beggs has held the role for some months in an acting capacity, having worked in UrbanGrowth’s Greenfield development business since 2002.

Former Ardent Leisure chief executive Greg Shaw has joined Malaysian tourism property company Mulpha Australia as chief executive.

CBRE has promoted Rhys Harvey to lead its Pacific Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) business. The appointment follows the recent announcement that Chris Hynes will be leaving CBRE at the end of this year to assume a senior role with DEXUS. Harvey joined CBRE’s GWS business 11 years ago and has held leadership roles in the firm’s GWS business in Hong Kong and South East Asia. He moved to Australia last year in the role as Deputy MD of the Pacific GWS business,

Cushman & Wakefield has made three new appointments in NSW. Anthony Bray has joined the firm as director – Sales and Investments from CBRE where he was head of Metropolitan Sales and Investments. Prior to this he was at JLL. Natalie Craig has been appointed head of Legal & Compliance, Asia Pacific. Craig also comes from CBRE where she was general counsel and company secretary, Pacific. And Emma Cacciotti has been appointed as leasing manager in the firm’s Sydney office. She was previously with Colliers International.

Colliers International has expanded its Victorian industrial team with the appointment of James Stott in its Melbourne East office. Stott joined Colliers earlier this year as part of the company’s graduate program.
