Investa looks internally for new CEO and CIO; more changes at the top of AIA; senior valuer joins Savills; WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff snares senior economist; Colliers expands its Melbourne metro sales team.

Investa Property Group has appointed Jonathan Callaghan as chief executive officer. Callaghan has been with Investa for more than 10 years, initially as group general counsel and, more recently as managing director and finance director. At the same time Peter Menegazzo was appointed as Investa’s chief investment officer. Menegazzo has worked at Investa for over 11 years, most recently as group executive and fund manager of Investa Commercial Property Fund. In April, Ming Long, fund manager of Investa Office Fund, left the company and three independent directors of Investa Listed Funds Management Limited (ILFML) resigned from the board following the fail takeover bid by DEXUS.

Following the appointment of Jennifer Cunich, former Victorian executive director of the Property Council, as CEO of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA), the organisation has elected a new national president and made changes to its board structure.

Ken Maher was inaugurated as the 77th national president of the AIA at its recent AGM in Melbourne. Maher is a Fellow and former chairman of international architectural firm Hassell, as well as a professor at UNSW Built Environment, He was elected president of Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council in 2015 and is chair of the City of Sydney’s Design Advisory Panel, a member of the Sydney Opera House Eminent Architects Panel and a board member of both Urban Growth NSW and the Co-operative Research Centre for Low Carbon Living.

Also announced at the AGM were amendments to the governance structure of the AIA. A Board of Directors will be established to manage the fiduciary and legal obligations of the institute, allowing the member-elected National Council to focus on policy, strategy and issues relevant to members and the profession.

Valuer Joanne Spicer has joined Savills Australia’s Melbourne Valuation and Advisory division. Spicer has been in the property industry for more than 15 years, most recently as a senior valuer with the City of Whittlesea.

Engineering firm WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff has appointed Ray Winn as principal economist, Infrastructure Advisory and Strategic Consulting, based in Melbourne. He joins the firm after 10 years with the Victorian Auditor-General’s office where he led the review of the efficiency of government projects.

Colliers International has expanded its Melbourne Metro Sale team with the appointment of Jackie Hanna as executive – Melbourne Metro Sales, based in the Melbourne East office.
