Grant Kelley takes the reins at Vicinity Centres, Adrian Dwyer takes the top job at Infrastructure Partnerships Australia, the Property Council appoints Matthew Kandelaars as deputy executive director in Victoria and celebrated architect Bob Nation AM joins GHDWoodhead.

Grant Kelley commenced as chief executive officer and managing director of Vicinity Centres on 1 January following the retirement of Angus McNaughton on 31 December 2017.

Adrian Dwyer has been appointed as the new CEO of Infrastructure Partnerships Australia to lead and contribute to the national infrastructure debate as long-serving CEO Brendan Lyon steps down. Dwyer spend four years as IPA’s Head of Policy, before joining Infrastructure Australia where he led the agency’s policy and research functions.

The Property Council has a new deputy executive director in Victoria. Mathew Kandelaars has worked with the deputy premier and planning minister in South Australia and as a commercial lawyer in construction and major projects. Among his achievements, Kandelaars was instrumental in the development of a new planning system in South Australia, and in helping bring to market the Adelaide Festival Plaza redevelopment.

Celebrated architect Bob Nation AM has joined integrated design practice GHDWoodhead as national design director. Nation, a past national president of the Australian Institute of Architects, was previously the international design principal of RMJM in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dubai and New York, the government architect for the Northern Territory and the founder of architectural practices including Nation Fender Katsalidis. He currently consults as the design advisor to the Barangaroo Delivery Authority in Sydney, which he will continue in a part-time capacity.

JLL has bolstered its Australian institutional investments team with the addition of Nick Rathgeber and Leigh Melbourne, who both join the JLL team. As regional directors, Rathgeber and Melbourne will be based in Melbourne. They have 30 years of combined experience in the commercial property industry and were responsible for the two largest Melbourne CBD office transactions on record: a per cent stake in the Southern Cross towers complex for $675 million in 2015; and the sale of the CBW office towers for $608 million in 2014.

Andrew Kupiec, who led the North American operations at the world’s largest car sharing company Zipcar, has joined CBRE as Global President of CBRE 360. This new global capability aims to help property investors and occupiers create customised workplace solutions by integrating property services and amenities with advanced digital technologies.
