Landcom confirms John Brogden as new CEO, Shane Goodwin steps down from the top job at the Housing Industry Association, and JLL promotes Daniel Kernaghan to NSW managing director as Michael Fenton moves to CBRE.
John Brogden (pictured), former leader of the NSW Liberal party, has been appointed permanent chief executive officer of Landcom after acting in the position for six months. Brogden has been at the helm of Landcom since it split from UrbanGrowth NSW last year. He has also served as chair of both organisations. Brogden was the managing director and CEO of the Australian Institute of Company Directors for two years. Prior to this he led the Financial Services Council and Manchester Unity.
After 22 years at the Housing Industry Association, and nine years as HIA’s managing director, Shane Goodwin has announced he will retire in August. Goodwin has devoted four decades to the property and construction industry and has made significant contributions to debates including non-conforming building products, supply constraints and financing. Goodwin, who will continue on HIA’s national board as a non-executive director, will be succeeded by deputy managing director Graham Wolfe.
JLL has promoted Daniel Kernaghan as its new NSW managing director, following the departure of Michael Fenton. Kernaghan will take on an expanded role, in addition to his current role as head of office leasing in NSW. Fenton leaves the firm after nine years in the role, during which time he helped guide JLL’s move to activity-based working. He moves to CBRE to head up its Australian industrial and logistics capital markets practice and to serve as co-senior managing director of the agency’s NSW business.
In other JLL news, Mitch Noonan has joined the agency as associate director of sales and investments for New South Wales. Noonan comes from CBRE, where he led the city sales team within the capital markets division.
Design firm Scott Carver has two new directors. Angela Biddle has been principal of interior design at the company since 2016, and prior to this worked at design firms in the United Kingdom. Esther Dickins has led landscape architecture for Scott Carver since 2015, after key appointments at Woods Bagot and Clouston Associates. With the new appointments, Scott Carver’s board achieves a / gender split.
First National Real Estate, Australia’s largest independent real estate network, has appointed a new national performance manager. Ted Piteo, the former chief executive of Professional South Australia, will provide support, mentoring and network development across the organisation.
Ben Handler, co-founder and CEO of Cohen Handler, Australia’s largest buyers’ agency, has stepped down. Handler and Simon Cohen expanded the company from a two-person firm operating from a bedroom to a multi-national business with 70 staff in six offices. Cohen will step into the role of CEO in the short term.
