People on the move – 16 June 2014Penny Bingham-Hall is appointed to the DEXUS Funds Management Limited Board; Woods Bagot makes a strategic hire in retail environment specialist Frank Alvarez; and JLL announces two appointments to its Queensland team.DEXUS Property Group has announced the appointment of Penny Bingham-Hall as a non-executive director to the Board of DEXUS Funds Management Limited.Bingham-Hall has more than 20 years’ experience in the construction and infrastructure sectors, having occupied a variety of roles with Leighton Holdings before her retirement from the company in 2009. The senior positions she held there include Executive General Manager Strategy, responsible for overall business strategy, and Executive General Manager Corporate, responsible for business planning and corporate affairs.She has previously held directorships with several industry and community organisations, among them the Australian Council for Infrastructure Development, and she is currently a non-executive director of BlueScope Steel, Sydney Ports Corporation, SCEGGS Darlinghurst Limited and Taronga Conservation Society Australia.Her appointment to the DEXUS Funds Management Limited Board means it now comprises seven non-executive directors and two executive directors.At Woods Bagot, retail environment expert Frank Alvarez has been appointed to the position of Global Retail Leader at the company’s Sydney studio. He is charged with growing Woods Bagot’s retail capability and helping delivering outcomes for retail developers and their consumers.Alvarez has provided design direction to a number of large-scale and award-winning shopping precincts worldwide, with much of his career spent leading teams for the Westfield Group. The projects he has overseen for the group include Westfield Garden State Plaza in the United States, plus Westfield Bondi Junction (Sydney) and Westfield Chermside (Brisbane). However, he is best known for his innovative work on Westfield Group’s flagship store – Westfield Sydney.Meanwhile, JLL has announced two new appointments in Queensland.Elliott O’Shea joins the JLL Brisbane Commercial Office team after fours years as a senior negotiator with Raine & Horne working in the commercial office market. And Gerry Leyden has received a promotion and will lead the Near City Leasing Team.He takes on the role after five years working as part of JLL’s CBD team, and will take responsibility for increasing market share and transaction rates.
