Retirement Living Council elects new President; UNSW announces new dean for Faculty of Built Environment; CBRE Hotels hires research manager; Hames Sharley merges with Studio 53; Fitzroys expand Metropolitan team.
The Retirement Living Council has elected Alison Quinn (pictured) as its new President. Quinn is the chief executive officer of RetireAustralia and is one of Australia’s most senior property executives. She succeeds outgoing president Derek McMillan, who has held the role since the formation of the Retirement Living Council in 2013.
Architect and urban designer Helen Lochhead has been appointed the dean of the University of New South Wales’ Faculty of Built Environment. Lochhead will replace Professor Alex Tzannes, who has retired. Previously an adjunct professor at the University of Sydney, Lochhead also served as the Deputy NSW Government Architect from 2007 to 2016. She also has international teaching experience with stints at Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia University and the New York Institute of Technology.
Ben Martin-Henry has joined CBRE as Research manager, Hotels. He was previously with MSCI in the UK and Australia, most recently as a senior associate with responsibility for the IPD Australia Commercial Property Index.
Architecture firm Hames Sharley has joined forces with Perth design firm Studio 53. The alliance will see Studio 53 co-founder and managing director Chris Maher take up a directorship at Hames Sharley and co-founder of Studio 53, Charlotte Kennedy will take on the role of Western Australian principal, Interior Design. They will be joined at Hames Sharley by three other design professionals from Studio 53.
Melbourne-based agency Fitzroys has expanded its team with the appointment of Chris James as senior manager and Terence Yeh in the Metropolitan team.
Christine Oelschlaeger has been appointed as events coordinator for Western Australia and the Northern Territory for the Property Council of Australia. She has previous experience in South Africa, the US and Australia.
