Changes in the Property Council’s International and Capital Markets division; CBRE hires pub expert in Brisbane; new leader in acoustics team at Cundall; management restructure at Turner and Geyer welcomes back interior designer.

Zerlin Ahmed has joined the Property Council of Australia as a senior policy advisor in Capital Markets. Ahmed has previously worked as a policy officer in the Economic and Industry branch of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, a Business Development and Partnerships manager at United Nations Women Australia, an assurance consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers and as a researcher for the Left-Right Policy Think Tank.

Also in the International and Capital Markets division of the Property Council, Matthew Neeves has taken up a temporary position dealing with tax issues, while Belinda Ngo will move to acting executive director of the Property Council in the ACT for three months. Neeves has previously worked for Colonial, KPMG and Vicinity.

The State Government in Victoria has established the Office of Projects Victoria to oversee major infrastructure projects, to be headed by Ken Mathers as chairman.

CBRE has recruited Will Connolly as a manager in its hotels division in Victoria. Connolly previously worked at Colliers International’s hotel division and has more than 10 years experience in the hotels industry.

Multi-disciplinary consultancy Cundall has appointed Patrick Carpenter to lead its acoustics team, based in Melbourne. After graduating from RMIT in 2005, Carpenter has been involved in many building projects, specialising in design, specification and commissioning for room acoustics, sound insulation and building services systems.

Sydney-based architectural practice Turner has restructured its management team with the appointment of Karl May as managing director, working with principal Nick Turner. May has been with Turner since its inception in 2001 and recently returned from a two-year sabbatical in New York. He will join the senior management team, which also includes Dan Szwaj, Kevin Driver and Stephen Cox, who have been appointed directors. Additionally, Angus Henderson, Annraoi Morris, James McCarthy and Shewanna Mendis have been promoted to associate director; Carolina Alvarez, Cecilia Huang, Claudio Mantovani, Jason Goggi, Nick Higgins, Tony Stodart and Vanessa Saad have been promoted to senior associate; and Christian Tonnius, Claire Mallin, Gabriel Duque, Janene Fowlstone, Meike Tabel, Petra Magendanz and Yvette Olsen have been promoted to associate at Turner.

Interior designer Tony Alberti has returned to Geyer as studio manager in Brisbane.
