Janette O’Brien moves to JLL to lead health, safety, environment and quality, while CBRE acquires retail leasing and property management firm Race Property, as well as 130 employees.

JLL has appointed Janette O’Brien to lead its health, safety, environment and quality team for its project and development service business in Australia. O’Brien has over 25 years’ experience as a professional across construction, road, mining and other utilities industries. She was formerly with Veolia Australia and New Zealand and the NSW Government’s Roads & Maritime Services. O’Brien’s predecessor, David McCamley, has relocated to Singapore to assume a regional role across the Asia Pacific region.

CBRE has appointed property professional Stephen Caffery to spearhead a new special projects team in the firm’s industrial and logistics division. Based in Brisbane, Caffery will specialise in corporate sale and leaseback creation and execution for key clients. Caffery most recently worked for CBRE London in its investment valuations team.

CBRE has also acquired Race Property, a retail leasing and property management firm in Australia. Race Property’s team will be integrated within CBRE’s existing asset services and retail leasing business lines, employing more than 130 people. Co-directors Graeme Wakefield and Meagan Wakefield will lead the teams.

James Girvan returns to Savills to join its capital transaction team, after a stint at Colliers. Girvan, who relocates from Sydney to Melbourne for the role, Girvan has overseen over $3 billion worth of commercial property transactions.

WMK Architecture has a new director of marketing and client engagement. Kelly Steckel takes on this new role with global experience in advertising and branding, including five years leading her own consultancy in New York.

Josh Davoren has been appointed director of RE/MAX in Australia and New Zealand, and joins his father and managing director Michael and brother Joel on the board. Davoren is the agency’s business growth manager.
