Urbis appoints a new managing partner, CBRE acquires Aurora Projects and a 31-strong team, and Knight Frank’s residential and office leasing teams continue to expand.

Urbis has a new managing partner, Tim Blythe (pictured), who will take on the top job in July. Blythe has worked with Urbis for 18 years, with city-shaping projects such as AMP Capital’s Quay Quarter Sydney and the Macquarie Centre under his belt.

CBRE has acquired project advisory and management company, Aurora Projects. More than 30 staff from Aurora will join CBRE’s existing project management division, bringing the team’s number to 105. The team will be led by Ian Rea, managing director of CBRE project management, with Aurora’s Jo Thorley and Malcolm Naylor assuming responsibility for health and higher education clients.

CBRE has also recruited Mitch Noonan, who joins the firm as associate director of City Sales from Colliers International.

Development Victoria has appointed real estate lawyer Angela Skandarajah as its new general counsel. Currently partner and national head of real estate, environment and planning at Minter Ellison’s Melbourne office, Skandarajah assumes the role after the new statutory authority was established following the merger of Places Victoria and Major Projects Victoria.

Knight Frank’s residential team continues to expand, with the internal appointment of Sarah Harding. The head of residential for Knight Frank in the Asia Pacific moves to the newly-created role of head of residential in Australia.

Knight Frank’s Queensland office leasing team is also expanding with a new joint-lead hire. Mark McCann rejoins firm in May as joint head of office leasing for Queensland alongside Campbell Tait. McCann has spent the last seven years with Colliers International.

David Cant, inaugural CEO of Brisbane Housing Company (BHC), is stepping down in August after delivering more than 1,600 new affordable homes to low-income households over 15 years.

After 22 years in commercial agency, Scott Berriman has made the move into tenant advisory joining independent firm, Franklin Shanks. Berriman will initially focus on the Sydney market.
