People on the Move – 1 September 2015ACIF executive director to retire; JBA appoints CEO and new directors; CBRE Global Investors lures CEO back to US; Board changes at DEXUS Funds Management and Davis Lock Associates; and new ACT regional director at WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff.Peter Barda has announced his retirement after eight years as executive director of the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF). Barda began his career as a construction lawyer, before becoming CEO of the Building Industry Specialist Contractors Organisation of Australia, the Property Council of Australia, the Commonwealth Government Construction Industry Development Agency and the Master Builders Association of NSW. He will stay on at ACIF while a search is undertaken for a new CEO.Urban development services firm JBA has appointed a new CEO, Robert Simpson (pictured). Simpson joins JBA after 13 years at Coffey International. JBA has also recently appointed three new directors: town planner Tom Goode, Christopher Procter as director Strategic Design, and director Communications Ross Hornsey.Daniel Queenan has been appointed as chief operating office, CBRE Global Investors. He has relocated back to the United States after two years as chief executive officer, Asia Pacific (APAC) at CBRE to take up the role. Steven Swerdlow is the new CEO Asia Pacific, reporting to Robert Blain, executive chairman, APAC, who retains overall responsibility for the region. Swerdlow has been with CBRE for 25 years.Elsewhere, CBRE has expanded its Victorian Development Sites team with the appointment of Hayden Reed. Reed has joined CBRE after more than five years at Jellis Craig Richmond, where he was appointed as a partner in 2013.DEXUS Funds Management (DXFM) has announced that, after 11 years, Chris Beare will retire as director and chair of the board of DXFM. He will be replaced by Richard Sheppard, who has been a member of the board since January 2012. Sheppard was formerly managing director and chief executive officer of Macquarie Bank and deputy managing director of Macquarie Group from 2007 until late 2011.Michael McDonald has been elected as non-executive chairman to the board of Melbourne urban design consultancy David Lock Associates. McDonald is a lawyer, commercial advisor and businessman with more than 35 years experience across corporate, commercial and intellectual property law.Building Services specialist Dan Cunningham has been appointed as WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff regional director for the ACT. Cunningham has been with the firm since 2001 and has been Canberra-based since 2009.Lyell Strambi has been appointed as managing director and CEO of Australia Pacific Airports Corporation (APAC) owner and operator of Melbourne and Launceston airports. Strambi was previously CEO of Qantas Domestic. He was previously based in London as chief operating officer of Virgin Atlantic Airways.Cushman & Wakefield has announced the appointment of Josh Langdon to the role of director in the Tenant Advisory Group, to be based in the company’s Melbourne office.Savills Australia has promoted two key staff in its Victorian Valuation & Consultancy team. Chris Pulvirenti has been promoted to director and Joshua Johnston to associate director. They will be responsible for residential project valuations including medium and high density residential within the CBD, city fringe and suburbs.
