Pacific Fair crowned State Development of the Year

Pacific Fair Shopping Centre was awarded the 2018 Queensland State Development of the Year Award, on Thursday 3rd May 2018, at a cocktail event at Blackbird Bar and Grill.

AMP Capital’s Pacific Fair development is Queensland’s luxury shopping, dining and lifestyle destination.

AMP recently invested $670 million into the redevelopment of Pacific Fair, transforming the property’s design and amenities.

Located on the Gold Coast, the site features an exceptional biophilic design, over 130 stores and a large food and entertainment area, which accounts for 20 per cent of the centre’s floor space.

“The judges were impressed with AMP Capital’s strategic approach to placemaking in the online era, with the centre designed to enhance social interaction,” says RLB’s Managing Director, David Stewart.

“More than 20 per cent of the centre’s floor space is now dedicated to food and entertainment, making it a true destination for both visitors and locals,” Mr Stewart says.

The shopping centre’s resort-style open-air precinct responds to the community’s desire for social spaces. The precinct is used for weekly yoga classes, large-scale events and exhibitions, offers free WIFI and is an organic play area for children.

“The central outdoor area has undoubtedly set a new benchmark for public spaces within super regional shopping centres in Australia,” Mr Stewart adds.

The QLD Development of the Year award is part of the national 2018 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards program. RLB has partnered with the Property Council to present the awards program since its inception in 1982.

Pacific Fair is also competing in three categories at the national awards, which will be held in Sydney on Friday 11 May.
