Office workers want more building informationTwo-thirds of office tenants want more up-to-date information on building services displayed on digital screens in foyers and lifts, finds a new survey from Executive Channel Network (ECN).ECN conducts quarterly research to understand the mind, mood and behaviours of the office tenants, explains the company’s chief operating officer Justin Kingston.”Our research finds that executives are hard to reach through traditional media – but that a massive 97 per cent notice the screens in their office foyers and lifts,” Kingston says.ECN’s most recent online survey of 1142 executives, conducted in June, found 64 per cent of people want to see more information on new services within their building, and 63 per cent are looking for more detail on scheduled maintenance and building upgrades. Further, 49 per cent of respondents are interested in seeing information about the environmental initiatives in their building displayed on digital screens, while 79 per cent want updates on local amenities and attractions.”Building owners have an untapped media channel right on their doorsteps. ECN’s technology can help them better engage with their tenants.Kingston says busy executives – who spend half their waking hours at the office – no longer have time for traditional media channels and are looking for a more convenient alternative.Four in every five executives no longer read a hard copy newspaper, and less than four per cent have an online subscription. “A third of our respondents think print media is cluttered with too many ads, and that these interrupt the reading experience.”These executives are just as capricious when it comes to other media channels, with 71 per cent admitting they are “disengaged” or doing other things while watching TV. Half of executives record their favourite shows so they can fast forward through the ad breaks.Digital screens in office foyers and lifts increasingly provide an opportunity for executives to stay abreast of news and information they traditionally would have consumed through other media channels.ECN has a network of digital screens and backlit sites located in more than 600 premium CBD office towers around the world. More than 1.6 million office executives engage with the company’s technology each week.Find out more about Executive Channel Network.
