The Darwin Inner Suburbs Draft Area Plan (encompassing The Gardens, Stuart Park, Parap, Woolner, Fannie Bay and The Narrows) has reached Stage Two consultation, with the publication of draft documents for public comment, including:
Draft Inner Suburbs Area Plan details the planning principles used for future land use and development, including precinct maps.
Inner Suburbs Needs Assessment details the key issues for consideration, informed by the community feedback and background investigations undertaken during Stage One.
Draft Discussion Paper – Review of the NT Planning Scheme proposes new criteria for development and design standards in the Territory.
There are two further opportunities to provide feedback -from now until mid- December on the draft Inner Suburbs Area Plan, and in early 2016 when the revised area plan is exhibited as a proposed Planning Scheme Amendment within the Northern Territory Planning Scheme.
A Community Workshop was held by the Planning Commission on 18 November regarding the Litchfield Subregional Land Use Plan and was well attended.
The workshop provided detail and open discussion about future land use requirements including ideas and issues for planning rural activity centres in Berry Springs, Coolalinga, Howard Springs, Humpty Doo and the Pine Forest.
Developing the Litchfield Subregional Land Use Plan is a three-stage process:
Stage 1: Oct – Nov – information gathering and analysis, community consultation, submissions received
Stage 2: Dec 2015 – Feb 2016 – prepare a draft subregional land use plan informed by community feedback and other investigations and hold further consultations
Stage 3: Mid 2016 – finalise plan and recommend exhibition as a proposed planning scheme amendment, providing a third opportunity for public comment.
The feedback received during this consultation period will help inform a draft Litchfield Subregional Land Use Plan, which is anticipated to be released in February 2016 for further consultation with the community.
The Planning Commission is working towards finalising all Area Plans by mid-2016.
