NSW Retirement changes for villages in the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie LGAs

Operators of villages in the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie LGAs are now required to provide the Secretary of the Department of Customer Service with certain information regarding residential premises in retirement villages that have been advertised for sale or sold since 1 January 2021.

Information for the first reporting period (1 January 2021 to 30 September 2021) is due to government by 31 October 2021.

The Department will officially communicate requirements and details on how to upload information to operators. Importantly, the Department have been delayed in rolling out these systems and should have it ready within a week.

The Department has also confirmed no action will be taken on an operator if they do not meet the reporting deadline. There has been official acknowledgement that this is the fault of the Department.

The regulation will be reviewed in 18-months.
