NSW Advocacy Update
It has been a busy time for the Property Council NSW team in the last parliamentary session before the State election.
Responding to options papers, draft plans and draft legislation has been core work during October.
Submissions that have been completed include:
- Improving Certifier Independence: Options Paper
- Explanation of Intended Effect – Short-term Rental Accommodation
- Too Good to Waste – Discussion paper on a circular economy approach for NSW
- Western Sydney Aerotropolis State 1 Land Use and Implementation Plan
- Sydney Airport Masterplan
- Special Infrastructure Contribution (SIC) for the North West Growth Area
- Special Infrastructure Contribution (SIC) for Wilton
- Proposed Special Infrastructure Contribution (SIC) for Bayside West

The NSW Parliament has been busy passing legislation which effects the members of the Property Council.
The Bills passed include:
- Building and Development Certifiers Bill 2018
- Building and Construction Security of Payment Amendment Bill 2018
- Fair Trading Legislation Amendment (Reform) Bill 2018
- Retirement Villages Amendment Bill 2018
The Property Council will continue to consult with members and to advocate to Government on behalf of industry as the relevant regulations, codes of conduct and guidelines are drafted to ensure our views continue to be considered.
