November Commercial Update
The Retail Business Lunch on Friday 23 October was the highlight for October’s commercial activity.
A blockbuster panel featuring representatives from Zara, Scentre Group, Woods Bagot, Endota Spa and M.J Bale discussed shop trading hours, site selection and other issues. Nearly 300 guests packed the room at the Adelaide Convention Centre and listened intently as Kevin Song (Zara) eluded to a future presence in the CBD and John Batistich (Scentre Group) talked about the need for population growth to assist the future of the retail industry. Kylie Roberts (Endota Spa) kindly donated a gift voucher to all guests and spoke about her ever expanding businesses whilst Frank Alvarez (Woods Bagot) and David Briskin (M.J. Bale) both provided interesting global perspectives on the challenges and opportunities ahead. Thanks to lunch sponsor Woods Bagot for their generous support in making the event possible.
Photos from the lunch can be found at the Property Council Facebook page.
Later in October, the Property Council joined forces with the Australian Property Institute (API) to host the inaugural Industry Networking Night, bringing together members of both organisations. Held at the Publishers Hotel on Franklin St, members networked whilst enjoying local food and wine. Feedback has been positive and this event will look to become a regular quarterly fixture for both organisations. Special thanks to Coopers Brewery for supplying the door prizes. Looking ahead, the festive season is well and truly upon us. The Christmas Lunch on Friday 11 December featuring comedian Merrick Watts at the Adelaide Oval is selling fast with more than 400 tickets sold already. To secure your spot, click here.
