Northern Territory surveyors now able to have plans approved onlineThe NT Government has cut red tape further in the construction industry with Northern Territory private industry surveyors now able to lodge their plans and receive approvals online through the Survey Approvals Online gateway.Lands and Planning Minister David Tollner said the SAO gateway will provide electronic notification to the Land Titles Office.SAO gateway now has the ability for development applications to be tracked from application lodgement to title issue and be a major benefit to the development industry. Each of these areas can now source land parcel data from a single data source, the Integrated Land Information System (ILIS).This means that land information can be shared, accessed and visualised within the ILIS system for all land in the Northern Territory. These linkages are leading the nation in the creation and management of electronic based land development approvals and titling.SAO streamlines the land development process with the removal of duplication of effort and paperwork and provides a more efficient capture of re-usable spatial information.Surveying professionals will be given two months from commencement to familiarise themselves with SAO Stage 2.During this time the Department of Lands, Planning and the Environment will be offering assistance, training and support to the survey industry.Stage 1 provides efficiency in the capture, storage and management of survey data related to land development applications.Further development work is continuing on inter-agency processes for future releases.
