Next section of George Street closed

George Street closures have now extended south between Market and Park Streets to allow for light rail construction.  This means George Street will be closed to general traffic between King and Park streets.

In the first time for 65 years, CBD residents, workers and visitors will be able to experience a predominantly vehicle free George Street from King Street to Park Street.

Christmas activities along George Street commenced last weekend and will encourage people to come and take a look at the transformation of George Street into a shared zone for light rail and pedestrians.

For those needing to drive, they are encouraged to use the routes on the edge of the CBD, including Goulburn Street, College Street, Macquarie Street, the Cahill Expressway and the Western Distributor.
