New women’s mentoring program launched
The Property Council’s NSW Division has launched the 2015 Women In Property Mentoring Program – following the outstanding success of this year’s initial platform.
The program is a unique five-month mentoring experience and an initiative devised by our Women & Diversity in Property Committee.
The 2014 program doubled expectations – with 30 participants and importantly, over 80 percent of all mentors being men.
The 2015 program has now been launched, through a briefing event that showcased opportunities for member companies and their staff.
Facilitated by Serendis Leadership Consulting, the program brings together women aspiring to be leaders in the industry with existing leaders who can help build a greater culture of diversity.
“The support from participating companies to date reflects the industry’s commitment to encouraging more women into positions of leadership,” the Property Council’s NSW Executive Director Glenn Byres said.
“The praise from both mentors and mentees has been high and shows the value of the platform.”
Several testimonials from participants reinforce the case.
“The program exceeded my expectations. The program structure of workshops, networking and mentoring sessions contributed to challenging my perception on many aspects of my career, capabilities and generally of women in the workplace.” Louise Monger, Head of Property Operations, AMP Capital, Mentee 2014
“Having participated in a number of mentor programs in the past, I found this was the most professionally organised with greater thought given to the appropriate pairing of mentors and mentees. I would strongly recommend organisations encourage both mentee and mentor participation in 2015.” Matt Faddy, Head of Asset Management, The GPT Group, Mentor 2014.
