New University for Aerotropolis
The NSW Government has announced that four of NSW’s leading universities are joining forces to create a world class University in the new Western Sydney Aerotropolis. The University will have a clear focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.
Vice Chancellors from the University of Newcastle, University of NSW, University of Wollongong and Western Sydney University have signed a Statement of Intent with the NSW Government to deliver the new institution, with all four universities creating one campus located in the new precinct.
It is expected that Stage One of the new university will open by 2026, at the same time the new airport is expected to be operational. It is the first of its kind in Australia and the first new university to be built in Sydney in years.
