New tool takes the guesswork out of climate change planning
Wood & Grieve Engineers (WGE) has launched a new climate change adaptation and resilience tool to help the industry future proof projects and manage the risks associated with climate change.
CChangeAP combines a risk assessment framework with easy access to location specific climate change statistics to guide the user through creation of an appropriate adaptation plan. A Climate Resilience and Adaptation Plan can ensure buildings or developments last well into the future.
By taking the mystery out of the potential risks, CChangeAP offers guidance to ensure that mitigation strategies best meet the project goals.
WGE CEO, José Granado says that CChangeAP is a powerful tool to help ensure the future of projects that are currently in design. “In order to achieve green, sustainable developments that will stand the test of time – we need to plan for how our climate will change in the future and ensure that our buildings can withstand those conditions,” he said.

WGE recently used CChangeAP to determine the potential climate change risks for a combined office and hotel development in Perth. A climate adaptation plan was produced in line with the CSIRO’s projected climate change impacts for the South-western flatlands region.
Though the development is close to the Swan River, flooding and inundation due to sea level rise was deemed not to be a future concern, giving the client a level of certainty over the future of their development.
