New State Government Portfolios
The Queensland Government has announced new ministerial responsibilities to prepare for the 2032 Olympic Games.
The changes include:
- Hon Annastacia Palaszczuk – Premier and Minister for the Olympics
- Hon Dr Steven Miles – Deputy Premier, Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning and Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics Infrastructure
- Hon Stirling Hinchliffe – Minister for Tourism, Innovation and Sport and Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics and Paralympics Sport and Engagement
- Hon Cameron Dick – Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment
The Property Council welcomes the creation of the new portfolios which reflect the importance of the 2032 Games. In particular, the Property Council welcomes the appointment of an Olympic Infrastructure Minister as a key step in ensuring that the Olympics catalyse the development of critical infrastructure to service Queensland both during the lead up to and following the Olympics.
The Property Council would also like to acknowledge the appointment of Tim Nicholls MP as the Shadow Minister for CBD Activation and David Crisafulli MP as the Shadow Minister for the Olympics.
