Who are PDC Lawyers and Planners and what are the services you provide?

We are a boutique law and town planning advisory business. We are experienced professionals advising a range of clients in the property sector including developers, small to large-scale builders, local government authorities and property buyers and sellers. Our services are tailored to assist our clients throughout the lifecycle of a project and their business. We can assist from the outset with commercial legal advice on getting the structure right, assessing site feasibility, purchasing property, obtaining approvals, through the execution phase right to the end sale of the developed property.

Where are your offices located and what do you specialise in?

We have offices in the Wollongong and Nowra CBDs. We specialise in property law, commercial law and town planning law and consultancy.

What type of projects are you currently working on in the Illawarra?

Projects we are working on in the Illawarra are very diverse and include:

  • development applications for residential, commercial and industrial development including a development application for the expansion of a major tourism facility;
  •  Land and Environment Court proceedings appealing determinations of development applications by Council;
  • preparing easements, restrictions on title and other property dealings;
  • building work defect litigation;
  • voluntary Planning Agreement negotiations;
  • drafting project related documents including joint venture agreements, construction contracts and loan agreements;
  • leasing and conveyancing; and
  • assisting clients where development has been undertaken without approval and Council is pursuing enforcement action.

What are the key priorities for your organisation? What makes you different?

We are a unique offering in the Illawarra given our multidisciplinary law and town planning practice. We are striving to do things differently to the traditional professional services model. It is our view that we can do things better by focusing on the needs of the client and looking for best-fit, innovative solutions rather than just considering our billable time and hourly rates. By doing this we can combine our experience, existing relationships and the use of new technologies and ways of doing things to best help our clients realise their goals.

We appreciate that our team of people are key to delivering the best results for our clients and our practice. As a result, we consider work-life balance and employee satisfaction key to our success. We facilitate flexible working practices to improve efficiency, output and effectiveness. We also see the value in continuing education and training to ensure that we are keeping ahead of the curve.

What is the best thing about working at PDC Lawyers and Planners?

It’s hard to narrow it down to just one. The best things about working at PDC Lawyers and Planners are the opportunity to do things differently, the support for thinking outside of the square and the satisfaction in providing innovative solutions for our clients. And sometimes we have nice lunches!
